1. | Do not wash/clean your dentures using hot water, as this will bleach the denture over a period of time. |
2. | Use cold water and a nailbrush or toothbrush or denture brush to clean the surface of the denture. |
3. | Soap and/or toothpaste can be used to wash the denture. If Steradent is used it is best only for about ten minutes, as this can cause bleaching. |
4. | Abrasive pastes such as smokers toothpaste or pumice are best avoided. These can scour the denture surface. |
5. | If left out overnight the dentures are best left in cold water, otherwise the dentures may dessicate and distort. |
6. | Leaving the denture out at night allows the saliva to flow over the denture bearing area, thus reducing the build up of plaque. |
