1. Do not wash/clean your dentures using hot water, as this will bleach the denture over a period of time.
2. Use cold water and a nailbrush or toothbrush or denture brush to clean the surface of the denture.
3. Soap and/or toothpaste can be used to wash the denture. If Steradent is used it is best only for about ten minutes, as this can cause bleaching.
4. Abrasive pastes such as smokers toothpaste or pumice are best avoided. These can scour the denture surface.
5. If left out overnight the dentures are best left in cold water, otherwise the dentures may dessicate and distort.
6. Leaving the denture out at night allows the saliva to flow over the denture bearing area, thus reducing the build up of plaque.
